Paper Tape

Patterned paper tapes are sticky backed, like masking tape, and can be applied direct to a card and repositioned. Literally a 3minute card.

Quilled Circle Tree

Inspired by a stamped card recently seen on another blog, I decided to translate it in to quilling, with the circles made from 2mm wide quilling strips. The stamped version would have been a quicker option, but I am pleased with this one, and the next card of this type will try two or three colours of quilling paper I think.

Roses and swirls

Three folded roses accompanied with quilled swirls, making the most of patterned paper as a background.

Cat Stickers

During a clear out of a draw, I found these left over cat stickers, and so put them to good use to make a quick small card.  

Art Nouveau Roses

In preparation for November which is going to feature aloto of stitched cards, these Art Nouveau Roses were made sometime ago using a pattern from www.stitchingcards.com

Small frilly flowers

These frilly flowers are cut with a fringing tool, making the cuts even, but made quickly - it is quite an expensive tool but worth its weight in gold.

Love hearts

As the sewing machine was already out, a bit if zig zag stitching is added along the paper edges.

Snowflake quilling

A modern snowflake using red quilling papers, set on a gift tag/tree decoration so the recipient can remove it and use it.

Simple Strips

Sometimes patterned paper is enough for a card, here vertical paper strips are mounted on to a blank card, with a single strip on the inside back panel.

Paper Birds

For todays card two birds are cut out from an old paper book, with wings and leaves cut by hand, from left over pieces of patterned paper. More leaves may be added....

Double pattern

This card started out as weaving but that had to be scrapped as the lines were not straight, so then I layerd green strips on to yellow, using the yellow pattern as a guide to make them accurate.

Lets Make Cards Issue 56, Christmas, is out now - I made a festive card using marbled papers. 

Swirls and Frills

Using up small lengths that had accumulated on the workdesk, for a random quilled swirl pattern. To avoid the kink in the centre of the coils I rolled the paper around a needle tool. 

Floral stamping

A quick stamping variation of a card posted on 2nd October, whereas this time the black was stamped on to light pink card.

Halloween spider

Halloween is fast approaching so a cute, not too scary quilled spider is quickly made for a card or tag.

Hats and scarves

Hats and scarves are needed now so I was reminded of a card I had made ages ago with tiny knitted woolies.

Rosy Monday

Congratulations to Sue and grandaughter Katie, who have raised lots of money for St Elizabeth Hospice by selling handmade cards - I donated a bundle for the sale, like this one, from the blog not only to help their stock levels but to allow me to close the card cupboard door. This pattern is from a Sharon Bennett design for Lets Make Cards magazine. Now busy making some more for Meg's sale in November.

Quilled Christmas tree

A fairly easy quilled Christmas tree here, it uses metallic edged papers which are not really showing up here!

Cheeky Elves

Dancing elves today with very cute stickers taking the effort out of cardmaking - unfortunately the card is from about 2008 so they are not available anymore.

Fringed flower wreath

Fringed flowers of two sizes to form a wreath - it was hearing Martha Stewart on Radio 2 that inspired a wreath as she seems to do alo,t using all sorts of different non-plant things to make her wreaths. 

Mini apertures

Apertures and acetate here for a quick card, on these cards its always important to make sure the inside is tidy, something I generally forget.

"Beehive" quilling

This is "beehive" quilling as first developed by Susan see http://susanquilling.blogspot.co.uk.  Large loops were made to start with and glued in place, then a long strip of pink curled this way and that with a quilling tool, then fitted inside the outer loops.  

Green tree

More recycling with another tree cut from the pages of an old book, still more than 100 pages left in the book so likely to be more trees posted in due course....

A pair of pink ice skates to match the blue pair posted recently.

Bright Floral Stamping

More flowery stamping but a change from the monochome black and white.

Single frilly flower

Just one frilly flower today, one of my favourite blues for the fringed flower with shading across the paper.

Present time

A simple present card today, suitable for a birthday or Christmas.

Trio of gingerbread men

Three smiling gingerbread men here decorated with some white 3d paint.

Black & White

A black and white theme for this card with various stamps printed in black on a strip of white card, and then mounted to the main card, with a single stamp printed direct to the card bottom left.

Folded paper roses for the start of the month, these are made with 10mm wide and 5mm wide papers.
